Children's Keepsake Correspondence Storage

Welcome to my 31 Days of Organization!  I will be getting my world in order this January by knocking one item off my to do lists each day.

I'm shifting my organization project focus to getting Lovebug's world in order.  I'm starting with invitations, cards and other memorabilia.

Children's Keepsake Card Storage Folder

In general, I am the opposite of a pack rat.  I don't hang on to anything that isn't necessary and I tend to purge excess items often.  However, I have a soft spot for correspondence.  I save every invitation, note, card, etc. that we are given.  It's odd really, because I don't often go through to read them.  But, I like hanging on to them because they really do make me happy on the rare occasions that I go through them.  But, I digress.  I have saved every communication Lovebug has gotten since we announced our pregnancy.  I would have kept them anyway, but I like the idea that she can go through them and see how very loved she is and has been since we learned that she would be joining our family.

I had all these items kept in a box, but it was starting to get unruly.  So, I picked up a 20 Pocket Accordion Folder and started filing the cards away.

I kept the organization pretty simple: Baby Shower (which includes anything we were given pre-birth), Birth, then a pocket for each year of life.

The 20 pocket folder is great because it will last until her 18th birthday, assuming she continues saving cards that long.  Plus, this particular folder has tons of room to grow.

Each pocket has items like:
Invitations - both those she's given and those she's received (including baby shower invites)
Games from the baby showers / birthday parties given for her
Pictures
Valentine's Cards
Birthday Cards
Random Cards / Letters she has received
Small souvenirs from various events throughout the year
I even have some of the paper decorations from her birthday parties stored in here

I don't know if she will ever look at these items or even appreciate them if she does.  But, I like knowing that they will be available to her.  And who knows, maybe one day I'll think up a great craft to display all these keepsakes?

  1. I have recently experimented with these two products myself - weird, but wonderful was my reaction!
